Jetlag Side Kunst Cirque Interview
https://soundcloud.com/radiodroogdok/jetlag-side-kunst-cirque-trio-interview-part1Radio Droogdok set up on the ‘Vluchstrook’ (hard-shoulder’) glade of Jetlag Festival, ADM, 20th-22nd July 2018.
Jetlag is an experimental circus and theatre festival. This was the 3rd year of collaboration between the collective of Toulouse circus theatre groups and host ADM. This years’ décor and costume theme was roadside/mechanic. The corrugated tin hut fitted in nicely.
The plan for Radio Droogdok was to experiment with collecting recordings and interviews from the festival, not only to turn to podcasts later but if possible process some fast enough to playback during the festival, by transmitting locally – very locally – to radios within 1-200 metres. Another aim was to continue with the direct exchange to Stroud: to broadcast some of the events in a live link to SVA for one evening of the festival.
The unexpected evolved rapidly: the radio hut project attracted an enthusiastic technical team, and thanks to them Radio Droogdok – Jetlag at the Vluchtstrook went live online! – as well as to radios in the nearby toilets, backstage kitchen and other surprise locations… The live radio internet stream had a feed from the outside stage and microphoned interview loungeset upin front of the hut. It became a crash course in radio production over the 3 days of the festival! Jetlag was received on Friday 20th at a special event in Stroud Valleys Artspace ‘John Street Social’ night – very exclusive as hardly any knew we were on air. Most of the radio stream was recorded and will be available to listen again to soon…
Thanks especially to special guest interviewer and roving reporter Coreen Hartley; to the radio tech and sound engineering team; special guest presenter and DJ Berk, to Yke Maas Salon and stage; all the Vluchstrook crew and performers, to Sophie for her beatbox jingles; to everyone involved in Jetlag Festival; to the host ADM!
