Artist Martin Cyprich reflects on his practice and the value the creative space ADM offers.

ADM community is currently facing eviction.  This interview was included on a CD within a gift of ‘treasure chests’ from ADM to the Mayor and City Councillors, as part of the treasure this ‘Culturele Vrij Plaats’ brings.

Martin has his work/play place on ADM. He gives a craftsman’s care and attention to detail, and works from small to enormous scales – such as the co-created sculptures for Robodok festival – the burning Fenix, and the metal tree, Ygdrasil. The image here is of his ‘baby vogel’ (height and wing span a few metres)

The ADM is the biggest cultural free-haven in the Netherlands. A community of around 125 people from all ages, nationalities and walks of life. Over 21 years the community has transformed a disused, derelict shipyard from the Amsterdam Drydock Company into a thriving Living Experiment, sharing space, visions and creations. ADM residents produce a wide range of projects such as Green ADM, festivals, concerts, workshops and arts.
